From MetaMundo to Matrix One
When we started with MetaMundo in 2021, we focused on implementing interoperable 3D avatars for the metaverse and gaming. While MetaMundo served as a pioneering platform for decentralized 3D assets, our vision has evolved with the recent advances in AI technology. 3D avatar creation on-chain is now just one element in our development pipeline. We’re enabling the creation of human-like 3D AI characters within an ecosystem that empowers creators and builders to develop AI dApps on Matrix One.
Today, MetaMundo has rebranded to Matrix One, the platform focusing on interactive AI character creation that enables deep personalization with diverse applications.
Matrix One reflects our ambition to lead and innovate within the decentralized AI space to empower contributors, creators and end-users for their participation. Matrix One will address the broader potential of AI, focusing on immersive, 3D, human-like interactions within digital environments.

Our vision is to democratize the creation, use and distribution of human-like AI characters through building out a suite of modular infrastructure for decentralized AI applications. The goal is to combine human creativity with artificial intelligence so AI characters can serve as companions, educators, entertainers and collaborators in everyday digital interactions. Matrix One aims to provide creators with user-friendly tools to develop these characters and foster a vibrant community where innovation and economic opportunity thrive in a collaborative and equitable networked economy.

What is Matrix One?
Matrix One is the protocol for developers and creators, offering an advanced interface for crafting interactive 3D characters with multimodal perception capabilities that seamlessly integrate into both virtual and real-world settings. The protocol offers tools to empower creators, game designers, and developers to dynamically tailor their backstory, personality, and knowledge base of their characters either through an accessible studio interface or programmatically via its comprehensive API. Matrix One is designed to define the way interactive AI characters are created, providing an unmatched level of customization and flexibility in character development.
Matrix One also functions as a collaborative ecosystem where the protocol contributors enabling innovation; character creators, app users, app developers, LLM and LoRA creators, and compute providers, share in the benefits of participation based on their contributions. Central to this economy is the $MATRIX token, which functions as the circulating currency, a reward for ecosystem contributions, and a means for governance.
The Infrastructure
Matrix One’s infrastructure consists of a modular suite of tools, SDKs and APIs to enable developers to create interactive 3D AI companions out of the box. The protocol currently encompasses four larger groups of modules designed to streamline the creation, distribution, and utilization of AI characters. These include the Character Studio, a toolkit for crafting characters with unique, human-like traits, offering features like long-term memory management, personality and backstory development, chat history , AI-generated voice customization, emotion and emote integration and more. The 3D Avatar Visualizer, a suite for building and customizing engaging and interactive 3D characters and scenes, and a 3D avatar maker for developers’ end-users. This includes support for avatar customization, file interoperability, AR and VR readiness, and a no-code easy to user interface. A Model Index, an extensive catalog built on top of Hugging Face with thousands of LLMs available for app developers and their end-users to further tailor their characters. We partner with the most efficient compute providers such as Akash to connect you with the best deals on compute.
And the Character Marketplace, a digital marketplace for trading characters and character elements as NFTs, including scenes, emotes, voices, and clothing, facilitating the exchange of creative assets within the community.
These components together form a comprehensive ecosystem for AI character development, offering creators a wide range of tools and features for enhancing their creations.

For now, the marketplace will continue to run in maintenance mode, with no further development. For holders who purchased an NFT from MetaMundo, there are no actions you need to take now. Creators who dropped assets on MetaMundo will receive an email with further updates from the team in the coming weeks.
